Villa 18: Three Volumes Composed for Lakeside Living in Madrid

by Stefan Gheorghe

Villa 18, designed by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, is located in Madrid’s La Moraleja district, overlooking the golf course lake.

The daytime spaces occupy two staggered volumes, their shift forming a sheltered terrace that captures morning light and offers protection later in the day. A taller volume rises to nearly one and a half stories, while the offset creates a shaded outdoor area. The third volume houses the bedrooms, with its own more private outdoor pocket.

Structural clarity defines the house—long spans eliminate columns, keeping diagonal views to the landscape uninterrupted. On the lower level, a skylit pool and gym extend the program, bringing daylight deep into the wellness spaces. Rounded exterior corners ease the transition between terrace and façade, while interiors remain orthogonal for efficient planning.

Material choices focus on warm whites: Colmenar natural stone, ash wood from local forests, and brass, paired with lighting tuned to 2,700K. This restrained palette provides a consistent tonal rhythm, reinforcing the home’s balance between geometry and atmosphere.
