Indo Avellanas House: A Dialogue Between Nature and Architecture
Designed by Garton Group Architecture, the Indo Avellanas House in Costa Rica is a thoughtful response to its lush, tropical surroundings. The project features six villas—crafted from locally sourced teak and supported by lightweight steel frames—each immersed in dense greenery just steps from the Pacific Ocean.
What stands out is the careful site planning: not a single mature tree was removed to accommodate the new structures. Instead, the villas are gently nestled among them, creating a low-impact footprint. Open-plan living spaces connect directly to private terraces and plunge pools, blurring boundaries between indoors and out.
Architects Tom Garton and Dennis Cordero have created more than just vacation homes. With a minimalist aesthetic rooted in warm wood tones and clean lines, these villas respect their environment while offering a refined, modern take on coastal living.
